Church of the Holy Communion
Music Ministry Mission Statement

The role of music at the Church of the Holy Communion is to support the liturgy, provide and enhance the meditative and reflective experience of those in worship, and help to celebrate and glorify God and convey His Word.

The Worship Service Music

Music is provided each Sunday at the 10:00 service beginning with an organ prelude for quiet reflection several minutes before the service.
The order of service is as follows:

Processional hymn
Gloria in Excelsis
Psalm sung to Anglican chant
Gradual hymn
Offertory hymn and Doxology
Sanctus and Benedictus qui venit
Agnus Dei
Communion Hymn
Recessional Hymn
Organ Postlude

Hymns are carefully selected for each service from the recommended listings in the Episcopal Church Musician's handbook, for the current lectionary year. Criteria for selections are based on alignment of the hymn's text with the readings of the day and congregational familiarity with the tune. CHC worshipers enjoy and know many of the hymns in the 1982 Hymnal and are strong participants in singing during the service.

The organ of CHC was purchased and installed in November 2006 and dedicated into service by Bishop Michael at the Installation and New Ministry service for Father Glen, our vicar.
More will be forthcoming about the new organ on this website.
